This started off as a frame and engine block. A Carolina custom frame was modified for a twin cam engine and Ultima 6 speed gear box, with 31/4“ Ultima belt drive.
The swing arm for 300-section rear tyre was modified for 1” spindle and air-ride rear suspension. Then came the Thunderheart ignition, Dellorto 40 twin Venturi carb and some great one-offs - filter intakes, exhausts and various other components. All finished off with paint and artwork by Ty Lawyer at Padgeant Paint

This CBX 550 was built as a challenge to discover how cheaply it was possible to build a bike.
Originally bought with a bent frame, this machine was chopped up, hard-tailed and re-built using old parts that were lying around, including a tank from a Chinese 125, modified with a Moto Guzzi filter neck and cap. The final cost? Just £125 including paint and MOT – Daz certainly rose to the challenge!
